REELpoetry/HoustonTX 2021 is a juried, curated, international poetry film and video, festival. Presented virtually February 24-28, work by 150 poets and filmmakers from 38* countries, will be screened and streamed. Plus interactive audience participation and networking, workshops, interviews, talks, Q&A, as well as these seven programs presented by invited curators: 

Chaucer Cameron:  Wild Whispers
Poetry Film Project is an exciting and collaborative transnational poetry film project.  It started with one poem and led to 14 versions in 10 languages and 12 poetry films all ‘whispered’ from the previous one. Chaucer will talk about the inspiration behind this project and show some of the films.

Sabina England: Indigenous Voices
presents work by Indigenous artists who are reclaiming their cultures in the 21st century.  Sabina’s curation from Native American, Hawaiian, Australian Aboriginal, and Maori cultures includes spoken word, poetry, music, and dance, with a wide variety of themes, styles, and tones invoked by Indigenous artists.

Helen Dewbery: Poets, Poems and Poetry Films
centers on a two year collaboration with various poets published by Nine Arches Press to create poetry film. Showing some of these poetry films, Helen will talk about how she approaches this work, the challenges that have arisen, and some of the key processes used to create these unique works.

Eleanor Livingstone: Best of StAnza International Festival
offers a curated selection of short films from recent festivals, ranging from the playful to the poignant and interrogating themes from climate crisis.Their 2021  festival will take place online from 6–14 March at  www.stanzapoetry.org

Sarah Tremlett:The Poetics of Poetry Film
interweaves numerous artists’ voices discussing their personal approaches to poetry film, film poetry and videopoetry with historical and contemporary facts in a groundbreaking reference work. Accompanied by selected films, she is interviewed by author and poetry film-maker Dr Meriel Lland.

Lucy English: The Book of Hours
is a reimagining of a medieval book of hours in poetry film format. Lucy’s selection, culled from 48 poetry films and 27 collaborators, follows the seasons through one year, exploring our complicated relationship with landscape, the unreliability of memory, and the unexpected beauty of moments in our lives.
